What's New in Sioux Falls
New Attractions
Jacobson Plaza at The Falls is a one-stop-shop for families. Located in Downtown Sioux Falls, this new entertainment space includes the city's largest playground, the city's largest splash pad, an off-leash dog park with artificial turf, and ice ribbon for skating during the winter and roller skating during the summer, an open air shelter, multiple seating areas throughout, and The Lodge Bar & Grill.
The 2025 SculptureWalk features 80 sculptures scattered throughout Downtown Sioux Falls in this year-long display. Vote for your favorite to be purchased by the city for permanent display.
At over 22,000 square feet, the Barb Iverson Skate Plaza at Nelson Park is one of the largest in the country. This state-of-the-art skate plaza includes flow bowls, guard rails, and an inclusive design.
Lions are back at the Great Plains Zoo after 30 years! The new lion exhibit opened in June 2024, offering plenty of space for Amahle and Simba to roam and enjoy playful activities.
Midco Arena is home to Augustana University's DI Men's Ice Hockey team. This 3,000 seat venue on campus includes state-of-the-art amenities for both players and fans alike, in addition to great views of the action from every seat.
New Food & Drink
With a South Dakota-inspired menu, you'll find bison, chislic, pheasant, and more on the menu at Rivage Oak Kitchen. Located on the Cherapa campus in Downtown Sioux Falls, this new restaurant comes with excellent views of the Big Sioux River.
Jack Rose Social Club Downtown
The Steel District in downtown Sioux Falls has welcomed several new restaurants, with Jack Rose Social Club being the newest addition. This local restaurant started on the south side of Sioux Falls, and after growing a loyal following they have now expanded with additional location downtown.
Fat Shack is a new eatery at 8th & Railroad Center in Downtown Sioux Falls. While Fat Shack serves burgers and wings, its specialty is sandwiches piled high such as the Fat Maverick with chicken fingers, mac n' cheese, french fries, and BBQ sauce all served on a hoagie roll.
Local bakery, Breadico, now has a downtown Cafe in addition to its southside bakery location. At Breadico Cafe, guests will find freshly made pastries, sandwiches, bread, coffee, and more. A wall of large windows offers great views of the Big Sioux River and the downtown landscape.
The newest spot in Sioux Falls for breakfast and dessert (yes, you read that correctly) has opened at 41st Street and Kiwanis Avenue. Yonutz offers an array of specialty donuts and ice cream that almost look too good to eat.
As one of the newest restaurants in Downtown Sioux Falls, The Lodge Bar & Grill at Jacobson Plaza serves up a variety of smash burgers and sandwiches. For an even better experience, pair your food with a handcrafted cocktail or mocktail.
What started as a small pizza window in the back of cocktail bar has now grown to a full standalone restaurant. Pizza Cheeks is now serving pasta, sandwiches, appetizers, and salads in addition to its beloved pizza at its new location just a few blocks south of Downtown Sioux Falls.
Big Lost Meadery and Ranch & Roost
The newest food and drink establishment has opened at Lake Lorraine. Big Lost Meadery originally started in Wyoming but has since expanded to Sioux Falls. While the mead is still made in Wyoming and shipped to the Sioux Falls location, craft beer is brewed onsite. Enjoy views of the lake while you sip on a glass of mead or beer. Pair your drink with a meal from Ranch & Roost next door.
Located inside the Canopy by Hilton hotel at The Steel District is Cascata Italian Cuisine. Explore the flavors of Italy in this upscale atmosphere with pastas, pizzas, salads, and more.
Ironwood Steakhouse also calls The Steel District home. Expect an elevated cuisine as you take in the great views along the Big Sioux River.
Also new at the Steel District is Dahlia Kitchen + Bar which delivers authentic Mexican flavors. Enjoy everything from freshly made guacamole to enchiladas, a variety of tacos, and more.
Located at the Steel District, Big Sioux Burger is making a name for itself as a go-to spot for high quality burgers in a casual atmosphere. Given the name, you can expect great burgers but you can also find a tasty breakfast too.
New Hotels
Canopy by Hilton Sioux Falls Downtown
Canopy by Hilton Sioux Falls Downtown is a high-end boutique property that opened in December 2024 at the new Steel District development. This 216-room hotel has several onsite restaurants, convention space, and views of the Big Sioux River, while being within walking distance of Falls Park.
