Top Sioux Falls Events to Attend to Celebrate America’s 250th

Celebrations are taking place across the country as we honor our country’s 250th anniversary, and here are some of the top events happening in Sioux Falls to celebrate 250 years of America.

Lighting of the Falls

See Falls Park lit up in patriotic beauty July 3-5 for Independence Day. Lighting will begin at dusk and will remain until the park closes at midnight.

Fourth of July Weekend at Levitt at the Falls

Levitt at the Falls will showcase classic American music July 2-4. Navy Band Northwest opens the celebration on July 2 with a performance of American popular rock music, local Americana favorite East of Westreville will perform on July 3, and closing out the holiday weekend on July 4 is acclaimed Broadway and jazz vocalist Andrea Ross & Her Big Band.

Downtown Open Streets

Downtown Sioux Falls, Inc. will continue its Downtown Open Streets series after successful events on the first Friday of May and June. Each event is an opportunity for people to interact with local vendors and entertainment in a closed-to-traffic portion of downtown. The event on July 3 will be a celebration of America’s birthday. An additional event is scheduled for August 7.

Sioux Falls Independence Day Parade

The Sioux Falls Independence Day Parade is returning after several years! The parade will begin at 10am on July 4 on Phillips Avenue in downtown Sioux Falls. Show up and show your pride for America during this patriotic celebration.

Fireworks Display

Cap off your Independence Day with a free fireworks display at the W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds. The evening will include a variety of entertainment including live music before an impressive fireworks display lights up the night sky.

Sioux Falls Airshow

As an event that takes place every three years, locals and visitors alike have been anxiously waiting for the Sioux Falls Airshow to make its return July 18-19 at the South Dakota Air National Guard and Joe Foss Field at the Sioux Falls Regional Airport. Headlined by the Thunderbirds of the U.S. Air Force, this free event is great for people of all ages to see a range of aircraft displayed on the ground, speak with pilots, and of course, see the jaw-dropping stunts and fly-bys performed in the sky.
