Saturday Morning Family Series Performance: Jackie Bird

Woven throughout Jackie’s performance are the intricacies and belief of her Native American culture. Through the aid of her puppet Wild Flower, Jackie is able to tell stories and sing songs from her culture. Jackie’s performance is a gift shared by a spirited people who have mastered the skills necessary to preserve their culture. Her dance has a different meaning for every tribe. For Jackie Bird, the dance is for healing. It has been passed down through her family from generation to generation.

Schedule for the morning includes:

  • 10:00am Lawn Opens with Community Partner Activities
  • 10:25am Yoga Warm-Up with Sanford FIT
  • 10:30am Jackie Bird performance – show length is 45 minutes – 1 hour

Jackie Bird’s performance is part of the All My Relatives/Mitakuye Owas’iƞ/Mitákuye Oyás’iŋ Festival. The All My Relatives Festival will be held at the Levitt on Fri, July 7th – Sat, July 8th and is sponsored by the Wokini Initiative of SDSU.
