The B-29 DOC History Restored Flight Experience Tour will land at Sioux Falls Regional Airport, July 13-16, 2026.
B-29 DOC is one of only two Boeing B-29 Superfortress bombers still airworthy and flying today. The tour stop in Sioux Falls will feature ride flight opportunities ahead of the Sioux Falls Air Show scheduled for July 18-19. Ground and cockpit tours for the public will not be available while DOC is at Sioux Falls Regional Airport. Instead, DOC’s presence ahead of the Sioux Falls Airshow will help promote and raise air show excitement and awareness, while giving people a unique opportunity to fly in the historic World War II-era bomber.
“Warbirds are more than just airplanes – they are living pieces of history that tell the story of our nation’s military and aviation legacies,” said Josh Wells, B-29 DOC executive director. “The stories behind B-29 DOC and the men and women who designed, built and flew these warbirds to protect freedom are vitally important to preserving U.S. history. Air shows and aviation events like what will happen from July 13-18 in Sioux Falls provide up-close and personal experiences with aviation that will unite families and inspire the next generation of aviators, while celebrating our nation’s history.”
The Sioux Falls Power on the Prairie Airshow July 18 and 19 will feature the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, along with aircraft from the South Dakota Air National Guard and other historic aircraft, including a Mig-17, P-51 Mustang, B-25 and TBM Avenger, to name a few.
“We’re thrilled to have B-29 DOC arrive ahead of Power on the Prairie 2026,” said Rick Tupper, Sioux Falls Airshow spokesman. “This is an incredible opportunity for our community to experience a living piece of World War II history while building excitement for an unforgettable airshow weekend.”
B-29 DOC will arrive in Sioux Falls on Monday, July 13, and will be available for ride flights July 14 and 15 before DOC departs for its next tour stop in Minnesota. Ride flight tickets for the event in Sioux Falls are on sale now at www.b29doc.com/rides.
