Stockyards Ag Experience

This historical horse barn, located at Falls Park, was built in the late 1800s to house horses that worked local stone quarries in existence at the time. The barn was revitalized and now houses the Stockyards Ag Experience which tells the story of agricultural impact in this region, beginning with the Sioux Falls Stockyards. This exhibit takes the visitor on a journey through the history of the Stockyards from its opening in 1917 to its closure in 2009. This exhibit highlights the Stockyards’ influence in history, economy and society. Vibrant historical images and high-tech interactive displays bring history to life and give the visitor a look inside the complex that has meant so much to agriculture in Sioux Falls and beyond.

The Stockyards exhibit interprets the 92-year legacy of the Sioux Falls Stockyards, and brings history to life through oral interviews. The Farm to Table story explores how food makes its way from our region to you. Learn where small grains go when they are harvested, take a look inside livestock barns with 360-degree video, use our scanner to learn about dozens of food products, kids can drive our big blue truck and more.

The Stockyards Ag Experience is free to enter.
