New hotels to the city include a boutique property in downtown Sioux Falls, Hotel On Phillips, and the AmericInn by Wyndham Sioux Falls North. Openings to watch for in 2020 include Best Western GLo at the Dawley Farm Village, Hyatt Place at Lake Lorraine, and a new Staybridge Suites in southwest Sioux Falls. Future developments at Lake Lorraine include Aloft.
Downtown Sioux Falls has seen several other development projects in recent months. BNSF Railway reached an agreement with the City of Sioux Falls to sell 10.25 acres of land downtown for future development. While no plan has been announced at this time, the land could potentially support hotels, shopping, office, retail and more. Look's Market is currently renovating a former restaurant into a food-hall space that will feature several grab-and-go food vendors as well as an in-house brewery. Look's Market also has plans to add a farmer's market during the summer months.
The Arc of Dreams, which debuted in 2019, is a resounding steel structure that spans the width of the Big Sioux River 70-feet above the water. The Arc has become a cornerstone piece of the SculptureWalk, and it's already drawing many people to go see it, particularly to see it lit up at night.
Levitt at the Falls opened in the summer of 2019 at Falls Park West. The outdoor concert venue hosted 30 free concerts this year, and will host 50 free concerts every summer going forward.
South Dakota’s newest state park, Good Earth at Blood Run is a national historic landmark. The river, abundant wildlife and fertile flood plains made the area a crossroads of Native American civilization from 1300 – 1700 AD and possibly even longer. A visitor center gives visitors an opportunity to learn about the history and significance of the land. They recently constructed an amphitheater to hold concerts during the summer months.
Severance Brewing, Obscure Brewing, and Lupulin Brewing are the city's three newest breweries. Severance is located on the first floor of an apartment building downtown, while Obscure is stationed on the city's east side. Lupulin is actually a brewery based out of Big Lake, MN, but they saw potential in the Sioux Falls market, so they decided to open up a taproom on the west side of the city. The addition of these three newcomers adds to the growing list of the craft breweries found in Sioux Falls.
The Treasury is the newest nightlife hot-spot in Downtown Sioux Falls. Located in the lobby of Hotel On Phillips, this upsacle cocktail bar embraces the history of the building's former purpose - a bank.
The Great Plains Zoo & Delbridge Museum of Natural History has announced plans for a new Lion exhibit that will include a pride of up to 10 Lions.
